All transaction information passed between merchant sites and the WooCommerce/Stripe payment system is encrypted. No cardholder information is ever passed unencrypted and any messages sent to servers from Stripe are signed using MD5 hashing to prevent tampering. You can be completely secure in the knowledge that nothing you pass to the Stripe servers can be examined, used or modified by any third parties attempting to gain access to sensitive information.
Stripe uses industry-standard encryption protocols to secure payment transactions. It employs a combination of encryption methods, including Transport Layer Security (TLS) and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), to protect sensitive data during transmission. TLS and SSL protocols ensure that the communication between the customer’s browser and Stripe’s servers is encrypted and cannot be intercepted or tampered with by unauthorized parties. Stripe also follows the PCI-DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) requirements, which include robust security measures for handling cardholder data. By adhering to these standards and implementing strong encryption practices, Stripe ensures the confidentiality and integrity of payment information, providing a secure environment for online transactions.
